... But during the wilderness years in the mid/late Nineties, we appointed numerous managers with plenty of experience - Rioch, Hamilton and Walker - and it got us absolutely nowhere.

Sometimes a young manager will understand the demands of the modern game much better, will have some fresh ideas and some useful contacts - he may be able to sign some decent, experienced players simply because they're his mates.

Double-edged sword I suppose ...
