WC fact (or FACT) depends if you believe the BBC

In "olden days" posh gentlefolk had "studies" where the womanfolk were ne'er allowed to tread. The ladies complained that they had no "study" in which to worship God and the very rich ones were afforded "Closets" as of course "Studies" were for men. Then a bloke invented the flush toilet and the best place to put this was in the ladies closet. Hence, Water Closet. Yawn.
