its because so many people have now got broadband

it literally is getting clogged up, so the exchange will drop everyones bandwidth. its no different on most service providers because they all run over the openreach copper network.

in the next few years openreach are runing load of optic fibre into the streets etc etc etc and basically everyone apart from really rural people will get 8 meg and above

depends on where you live as to when the work will be done, they've started in the big citys all ready. also take off any extension wiring and get a broadband front plate
