Readable, sometimes bordering on fairly good. The books may entertain you

but won't give anything amazing, if you like that sort of thing though.

Thrillers.
Some on the ones with the Sean Dillon character in are quite good.
He does have a habit of not bothering with any other than key plot points. You'll come across sections like "so and so said this, they all got up and went to the plane. On arrival in Iraq they quickly located the insurgents camp, and headed in."

Its all you need to know, but a little more detail in the build up wouldn't hurt!
