At Damazan today (27th September) Bordeaux-Giscours CC beat CCSB95-II to become Champions of France in the National League.
Having won the toss, Bordeaux decided to bat and scored very slowly against a very accurate St Brice attack: 25 without loss after 10 overs.
Both openers went and the score reached 70-2 after 20 overs. Alex Durrans (63) and captain Neil Vasey (32) pushed the score on until Durrans was run out at 141-3. The final score after 40 overs was 181-7.
St Brice captain Dipesh was their best bowler with 4-20 off 3 overs only; Prasant 2-23 off 8. Batting after lunch, St Brice scored more freely; but they lost important early wickets: 18-2 after 4; 29-4 after 7.
Big hitting by Jignesh Patel (53) and Prasant (23) took the score to 111-4 after 20 overs. Then came Hugo Pinsent: 4 wickets in his first two overs and it was 117-8 after 24. Eight overs later, on 30.4, St Brice were all out for 132. Man-of-the-Match Pinsent took 4-7 off 5 overs; Ferreira 3-56 off 8; Snooke 2-23 off 8.
Congratulations to both sides on a very sporting match, played in excellent spirit. And commiserations to Bordeaux opener Tom O'Gara who retired early with a fractured arm: but it was his replacement Beno?t Tiedrez who took the catch for the final wicket.
