and there were genuine concerns at the end of last season that we could even struggle to avoid relegation this year. It really was that bad.
To 'plateau' and 'bottom out' if you like is all part of the recovery performance. To be doing this with a side made out in large parts with promising, yet inexperienced youngsters, is certainly pleasing.
They are showing the hunger that we have been sadly lacking in recent times.
I really can see the start of something here, but we need to realise that this squad is in its infancy and is still not the finished article. But as I say, I am extremely encouraged by what I am seeing and the recent 2 results shows some definate promise.
Yes, of course we need to start turning draws into wins and begin to take our chances when on top, but lets appreciate that that will come once the squad gets more experienced and perhaps 1 or 2 more bodies in the coming months.
I for one believe that if we can get to around 10th and ensure we are there come the turn of the year, then play-offs could be a realistic target for the 2nd part of the year.
Of course we want to go up this season, but realistically I think it will be a bonus if that happens this year. Next year is the one we are building for and I think, given 1 year of getting the youngsters used to this league, we will be much stronger for it.
Lets keep the faith and enjoy watching this team being built and becoming stronger, hopefully month on month.
