Techy question

In the bottom right hand corner I have a little icon of a computer with a flashing green screen connected to another one, and if you hover over it it tells you "21974055 bytes received 5925654 bytes sent @ 1088000 bps"

That last bit is bytes per second right, which is your broadband speed right? So can I translate that as to mean (roughly) 1.08Mbps?

(I'm near enough out in the sticks using an ancient pc before you ask, so I wouldn't be able to run any better than 2Mbps if I used more modern equipment.)
