I think a lot of the problem is this desire for comparability when it really iisn't appropriate. I think that women's tennis pushed its luck with the equal pay thing -if they'd started on that premise then this might have had a negative outcome and they'd not have hit the interest levels today.

I've seen a couple of girls playing football at a junior level - the best ones tend to look good in a primary school team because quite often they're bigger than the lads, on the girls developing faster spectrum. I just don't think it goes past that point though.
