What is really depressing about this trial of the "Columbine imitators"

is what it reveals about the standards of modern schools. I mean, look at this:

A page of an "essay" by one of the yoofs. It is riddled with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. Is a single one of these pointed out or corrected by the teacher marking it? No. They just don't bother. Instead they write crap in the margins like "I like your casual chatty tone and style" and "Interesting use of stream of consciousness". No wonder so many of them emerge semi-literate idiots.
