5 goals for ?0.
However there were some right tards behind us constantly shouting out the annoying Paul Whitehouse Aviva ad catchphrases. And the guy who shouted out "Should've gone to Specsavers" when the ref made a blunder - genius. Laugh? I nearly shat.
As for the players, defence can't really be commented on as they had nothing to do. Stephens looked big and was captain, which may be a bit of a comment on the mighty Doh. The Klit made a couple of regulation saves and one quite good one, which is a start.
Midfield was Russell being fairly solid and Hoolahan wandering around intermittently being too good for the rest of the game and sometimes plain wasteful. Set up two goals. Wes really all over. Martin and Whaley were wide and had very little defending to do, which in Whaley's case is probably a good thing given his commitment. Good goals from them though. Dumic came on for Russell and although a defender looked, against limited opposition, quite handy. Selwyn posted the other day that he was "apparently s**tter than s**t" by which I presume he meant he hadn't seen him play. On tonight's evidence he's not, but like I say Southend were weak. And I wouldn't say it to his face either. He's a big boy.
Up front QD and Maric both scored, and could have had more. Maric's was a venemous finish and generally he linked quite a lot better than the other night, where Lambert's description of him as "rusty" was well, fair enough I guess. He could have had a few more and was quite instrumental in a lot of build up play, not all of which worked. Cody however, despite all the running, still didn't make the most of his chances.
Ho hum, just a reserve game.
