Well exactly, slap on the wrist I agree, he was silly. 9 months though? far too much.

There is punishing someone for being a bit stupid, and there is punishing someone for knowlingly attempting to enchance their performance through illegal means.

9 months would suffice for the latter, its far too much for the former.
He made a mistake, which gained him nothing.
