My Ratings From Last Night

Alnwick - 7: Made a good save, quick off his line, on the edge of being a bit flappy because he could have punched away a bit cleaner.

Spillane - 6: A bit slow, he was nowhere near the Brentford winger and there were huge gaps between him and Nelson who seemed to have no understanding.

Nelson - 6: Slow, didn't have much to do just a few headers away. As above, big gaps between him an Spillane.

Askou - 8: Good performance, looks strong and determined.

Lappin - 6: Didn't get stuck in enough for a full-back.

Hughes - 8: Very good positive passing and covered a lot of ground, but could do with making more interceptions.

Adeyemi - 8: He looks like he's going to be a very, very good player.

Russell - 5: A bit anonymous.

Whaley - 6: Worked hard and got forward well.

Martin - 8: Great perfomance on the left, nice passing, creating chances for himself and others. Well taken goal - other strikers at this level would have blasted the ball earlier, but he worked a good chance for himself. That extra bit of class. Although saying that he had an earlier chance whereby he should have had a shot rater than cross.

Maric 4 - tried hard but far, far too slow. Reminds me of Mickey Evans who used to play for Plymouth but Evans somehow used to score lots of goals.

Cody - Tries very hard but is lightweight. Good to have as a sub.

CONCLUSION:

Defense very slow with huge gaps down the right, and Lappin a bit weak down the left.

Midfield - kept the ball very well, more like a championship performance but faded and stood off for a while in the second-half. If Rusty can get match fit and put himself about then it will have a good balance.

Strikers - we need to sign a very good one to get promoted.

Lambert - made the right changes, and playing Martin on the left worked well, but what formation were we playing?

Best players: Askou, Hughes, Adeyemi, Martin
