A highly enjoyable day out!
The day started well into Hartlepool for midday, Lloyds bar just round the corner from the station which sold a rather delightful alcoholic ginger beer. met upo with IED and Klobo here and had a few jars and a chat.
I thought we were a bit slow out of the blocks but soon took control of the game, Pool had a fair bit of possession but never looked like doing anything with it whereas we looked dangerous everytime we were going forawrd.
The guy who fell was just in front of me, he was very drunk and that porbably saved his life, he sommersaulted over the 4 foot wall and cracked his head on the wall and landed with a thump, had he been sober and fell he may well have broekn his neck. There was a lot of blood from a large wound but he was concious and waved to the crowd as he was carried away. I thought Pool were more than a little slow in dealing with it, the club officials seemed more interested in seeing if there was any Nodge fans to blame than getting him out of there. We scored on 26 minutes and he left the ground on 42 seemed to take an age to get him out but as I say he was awake so hopefully he'll be fine.
Back to the game the GK looked solid made one good save in the second half caught most cleanly but was a little quiet. The centre backs were pleasingly solid, a couple of sliced clearances but looked good. Drury and Semi were the weak links, Adam made one good tackle but for long periods was out of position slow to react and didn't offer anything. Otsemobor wasn't as bad but offered very little. Lappin isn't a left winger. McFat was slow and didn't take anyone on but reminded me of Mulryne he's got a sweet touch and cross field balls look easy with him. Hughes for me had a quiet game but maybe that's what you want from a centre midfielder someone who gets on with it, took his goal well from the best move of the game. Smtih looked ok should have been subbed earlier as he looked tired. Holt was cracking, he was here there and everywhere, should have scored late on but needs a more active strike partner. JC was poor, never got into the game ran about a bit but you can't help but feel that Cody would have offered more.
Both goals were very good, we could have added to out 2 goals and possibly should have but all in all a professional (how long has it been since we described a Norwich performance as professional) performace.
Good turn out by the fans only a couple of seats were available and there was a good atmosphere throughout the game. The Pool fans were pretty poor, they've got a standing Kop and not once did I hear them make a noise, nor was there many home fans though ?20 to watch them play must feel a little steep.
After the game couple more ginger beers and a bit of a singsong on the train, then York for MoTD and making chavs cry, a grand day out!
