there's a lot less violence at and around football these days than 20-30 years ago, so I find it hard that he can construct an argument to say there's more hate.
There has also always been booing - I remember there being boo-boys at Norwich going back to the late 70s and 80s.
I'm sure if printed shirts had been available in the late 70s then there would have been just as much bile printed on them, if not more so, than now. This, after all, was the era of regular riots in and outside stadiums, darts and various other implements used as weapons and bananas thrown on to the pitch.
