Yet we look better when he doesn't play

Hoolahan's an enigma, he looks like he's should be doing something but in reality he's not.

He runs about a bit, doubles back on himself and either loses the ball or makes a sideways pass. While doing this he's constantly out of position and leaving everyone else exposed.
