Thoughts on the game

My first glimpse of the team this season.

Attacking-wise I must say I was impressed. Can't remember the last time I saw a Norwich-side attacking like that. But defensively Lambert has a lot of work to do. If Sunderland hadn't slowed things down in the 2nd half, the "we want 7" chants from the Sunderland fans might just have happened...

Ratings (4-10):
Alnwick - 6: Did nothing wrong, but I can't say I have much faith in him being a solid, reliable keeper. Think he lacks authority. But not to blame for any of the goals though. Hope he's ok after the injury.
Otsemobor - 5: Shockingly poor positioning at times. A small plus for some decent attempts forward.
Spillane - 5: Looked a tad more comfortable than Doherty, but that speaks more of the Doc to be honest. Unnecessary tackle for the sending off.
Doherty - 4: TAXI!!!!!! Can't believe this guy has played in PL...
Lappin - 7: Steady defending and good delivery forward. Deserved a goal from that screamer in the 1st half.
Whaley - 6: Terrible 1st half, but a good 2nd. Of course Sunderland slowed things down, but he made some good runs and crosses.
Tudur-Jones & Adeyemi - To be honest, I didn't notice them AT ALL.
Hoolahan - 7,5: Clearly our best creative player, but I think he is a bit too fond of the ball at times. Created dangerous situations for Sunderland when Lappin overlapped him and he ran towards the centre with the ball and lost it. Poor delivery on corners.
Holt - 7: Difficult job, but he did good against tough opposition. Glad he's ours.
Daley - 6: Good work rate. Looked good on the ball, but like Holt he had a difficult job.
--------
Martin - 5: Quiet. Not impressed by him today.
McDonald - 7: ?xcellent header right before the goal. Work his socks off. Excellent stuff when he went into goal. A legend in the making :-)
