i think that saturday was far more than just another season opener...

it was after all the "gunn to save us from the drop" and "last big effort at charlton" and a summer of "i took us down and want to put it right" bollocks. This was the first meaningful game since charlton however city had 7 (or 8, i cant remember) pre season games to warm up. Rightfully the fans expected more than they got. I think gunn saw enough saturday to suggest even HE lost confidence in theo - otherwise wouldnt tuesday night be just the tonic to allow him to get back on the horse in a meaningless game?!
