Hmm...too fast use of the ENTER button

If the Snakepit Two heard the applauds or not is totally irrelevant. The ones applauding are telling every little kid at the stadium that "this is what we want you to do".

And one other thing. I may be wrong, but I find it hard to believe that the ones applauding them displayed "polite applaud".
