Converting Word .doc to html..... help....

I'm in the enviable position of having 600 word doc pages to convert to html but am not impressed with the humungous file sizes.
What's the best option techie folks.... is it strip out the text and recode for html.... if so I'm going to cry.

Oh and let's wait until after Leeds game before we really panic....
