If Chase was still here...

the scenario would be obvious. Manager says star will not be sold and is intending to strengthen squad, Club says selling star is good business, good for lads career prospects, can't stand in his way (and we would like to increase the ground capacity!!!), Manager resigns saying Board undermining his position thus saving club the costs incurred in sacking manager (Foley and Livermore resign in sympathy with manager). It couldnt happen now, could it?
