Bossed it first half, looked really good. McSmall really was good. Adeyemi best player. Askou looked our best defender but everyone else was pretty good too.
Second half, under pressure for most of it. Man U sat on the edge of our penalty area doing short passes trying to pick us apart. It worked once. We should have been ahead by more than one, and so their goal shouldn't have mattered. We weren't, it did.
Alnwick: Looked solid, saved a pen which to be fair was pretty poor - placed at him slighlty to his left. Good kicking and seemed good in the air.
Otsemobor: His pace meant he could cover well and didn't make a tool of himself. Good game. Great block late on. Did sometimes run himself into his own corner and then hoof in the 2nd half.
Lappin: Good game, didn't do anything amazing, but pretty much cancelled out any threat on his side. Off at half time.
Doherty: Solid again, good tackling, gave away the pen by sticking his leg into the tricky Man U player who went down pretty easily. Looked a def pen though. Other than that good. I think he came off either at half time or shortly afterwards.
Askou: Good defender, one s**t pass in the second half that allowed a Man U player through on goal. Other than that really good. Would like him to sign.
Tudur Jones: Tall and went in with a tasty two footed tackle (which he won) in the first half. Again looked pretty good.
McSmall: Hollywood passes, which sometimes didn't work, but mostly did. It honestly was like Wes, but on the right. Neat one-twos, and accurate through balls. The game changed for the worse when he went off. Made a real difference on the wing.
Adeyemi: Weird player, looks a little slow but always was right in the mix, was defo M.O.M. Taller than I thought, a 6ft hunk of Waggers freshest meat (that sound slightly homo-erotic). Easily could play first team. Looked a bit knackered later in second half, just before he came off, but that might just be the way he runs.
Martin: Looked alright first half, first to the ball and created chances for himself and others. 2nd half he didn't get the ball much. Looks a better player than when he left.
Cureton: Had most of the chances in the first half. A header he did well to get to, but he missed. And a couple of others too, which he also missed. He'd be good if could score, but he can't. And he isn't.
Hoolahan: Read McSmall, but saw less of the ball. created chances and I will be amazed if he isn't one of our best players this season.
Bench:
Nelson: Replaced Doc, looked good and had much more to do in the second half than Doc did in the first. Big Tall Meat.
Lee-Barrett: From the report from the Dereham match, glad he didn't get on.
Drury: On at half time. Looked pretty safe, though didn't seem to create as much going forward as Lappin did. No mistakes and his passes got where they were supposed to go.
Gill: On at half time. Looked weak and had no real affect on the game. When OTJ went off and Gill on we lost the battle in midfield.
Whaley: Did nothing of note, looked poor, but he wasn't on long and has only just joined. I want to write something good about him, but can't think of anything. Next!
Spillane: Came on in the second half and I didn't notice him.
Holt: Not on long enough to do anything. And didn't.
Stephens: Didn't get on.
Kris Bright: He looks like he could play for my Sunday league club. We came bottom of division 4B last season. He'd defo get on the bench at least.
All in all, we should have won and had enough chances to do it. If a fit Holt and Martin were playing from the start (even a Bright and Martin) we probably would have.
I really really want Curo to be good.
