oh, on re-reading that I understand

Carlisle released him and he's gone to Darlo, but he can't sign for them 'cos they're in administration.

So we could nick him off them.

Nice. No idea if he's any good (guess Carlisle thought not...), but the Darlo angle means you kind of hope this is rubbish...
