As a fellow idiot, I can slightly see selwyns intentions. He finds taboo things funny

Nothing more taboo than cancer. I really don't think he was being malicious just being an idiot. The trouble is, if no one reacted, if no one was entertained by the thread (we have to admit even though his comments were not in good taste the thread as a whole made for entertaining reading albeit for the wrong reasons) then he wouldn't post such things, but they cause a stir. Please don't think I'm condoning his jokes/comments though but I do think irony was intended but selwyn has a knack of disguising the irony and pissing people off.

It does bring up quite an interesting subject though, on taboo comedy and what is acceptable and what isn't. This board has quite a high threshhold of controversial jokes etc but cancer seems to be where the line is drawn. We have had jokes about incest, bum rape, people who have died, beastiality, even perhaps aids. But cancer seems to be where the line is drawn. Can cancer ever be funny? can rape? can aids?
