All we need is a midfielder who can pass, and a right-winger who can cross. NW is far too conservative in his transfer policy for my liking - I can't think thinking there are plenty of African, South American or East European players who'd make an excellent attacking centre-midfielder, and NW hasn't even entertained the possibility (I know we had Safri but he's been in England for years).
The 2002 team had a midfield full of players who could do one crucial thing really well - Holt tackled, Nedergaard crossed, Mulryne passed and McVeigh attacked. We don't even have that now, it seems. And it doesn't take a genius to spot it. Grr ...
