Dickinson was never going to be cheap, and I suspect ?100k is way short of the mark. I see the local Brighton rag is quoting ?300k up front plus undisclosed add-ons, which sounds about right. I would imagine he may end up costing them around ?450-500k, which is a bit of a pisser as I rather wanted him to sign. Plus he might be asking for silly money a week, who knows.
People have moaned for years that we never look at lower league and non-league players, yet now that we're finally getting a few in on trial, it's a sign of the apocalypse. Surely this is precisely what we should be doing, getting these lads in and having a good look at them in friendly matches. Troy Powell might not be good enough for Tottenham, but there's a world of difference between the Spurs first team and Division 3. Goran Maric has a solid goalscoring record in Spain and was top scorer in his division in 2008. He's free, cheap and could do a job - why not have a look at him?
And finally, I for one am quietly happy that we're not wasting money on that violent oaf Lee; too expensive, too much wages, and a piss-poor goalscoring record.
That's my blub - I'm off to make tea.
