although my dad only had cancer, i still try to take comfort from the fact that he had all

mental faculties when he died this time last year - although he'd been in remission for a few years when it came back on him it came back hard and fast

for a man as physically active as my dad was, it was heartbreaking to see him shrivelling up before our eyes, there isn't a day that goes by when i don't wish that he was still here with us, but i know that if his 'last days' had dragged on for months or even years longer and he became a man we no longer recognised, we may have just ended up wishing him dead
