Surely God would either reveal Himself unequivocally, leaving no room for doubt (or faith) - or, as often posited, by allegory only leaving Mankind with an essential moral choice, a step in faith or what you will, taken not in knowledge but belief and hope.

Where in all of that does making a freshly cut tree stump looking a little bit like some modern images of the Virgin Mary if you squint a bit fit in?

I mean, if you're going to give proof Big Feller, give proof - and if You're not because that would negate the fundamental point of Your existence, why fanny around like this?
