I haven't come across fungibility in this context before

I've only encountered it in relation to goods, like when there's a contract for the sale of 1,000 tonnes of wheat from a warehouse containing 10,000 tonnes - it doesn't make any difference which 1,000 tonnes you get so the goods are fungible.
