They wanted loads of people to renew so they could wave our great fan base at the world (probably used to bring in a decent CEO). So they made the offer. Now they're annoyed because people took it up. And I'm a tightwad earning half of what I used to as well so I can't deny that had a significant impact on my reasoning.
