the point of the Academy
Liverpool have been FA Youth Cup finalists for 3 out of the last 4 years - yet their side is devoid of recent graduates and they recently sacked 10 Academy staff.
The FA Youth Cup final in 2005 was between Ipswich & Soton, yet neither side has shown an on-pitch improvement.
The Academy is now really a way for the big clubs to subsidise the smaller ones, as their cast-offs find their way down the ladder. And maybe that is no bad thing?
