That the money that comes in from TV solves all your problems, and can get you into the champions league.
6 or 7 years ago, maybe. Not now.
Even in the prem, its clear now that a clubs actual income isn't enough. Even those in the top 4, with the additional champions league income, are heavily in debt and need outside investment.
Clubs are gambling their futures on promotion to the prem, but once you get there it jsut gets worse.
Its patently unsustainable.
Just like the housing market was.
Just like the spate of 110% mortgages to people with s**te credit was.
People will keep believing it can carry on, because that's what they want to believe.
At some point, it WILL fail. Some creditor will take action, which will shock others into realising just how toxic the debt they have is.
When that happens the house of cards will fall.
When it does, we will be treated to lots of soul searching and hand wringing about how awful it all was and shouldn't have been allowed to happen.
Even though it obvious to any sane person that the current situation is madness, and cannot carry on.
