Hey, AB re your missus hairdrier. When a pin on a plug gets hot

it usually means that the connection inside the plug is lose and the contact is arcing. Eventually it could set fire to the plug.
Take the cover off of the plug (you will unplug it first, wont you ) and see if the terminal is black. If it is, you'll need a new plug
