Instead of concluding that something was obviously wrong with a selection process which had led them to Grant and Roeder, and that both were simply crap managers, they simply figured that neither understood the club. Hence the need for someone who bleeds yellow and green.
That's not really based on speculation on my part. It's based on things Munby and especially Doncaster said.
