Looks Like The Board

Have written this season off!

But, way back in the summer, Doncaster and Worthy were wittering on about a "long term plan" which seemed to imply, to me, that automatic promotion was not the be all and end all and that the club were not expecting it, or banking on it to happen. It sounded as if we were looking to build up again and make a serious go of it within 2-3 years but not necc straight away.

It sounds to me as if Ashton was bought to keep us in the Prem with a gentlemans agreement to him that, if we went down, we wouldn't stand in his way if and when a decent offer came in-at least as far as the board were concerned.

What does impress me is that Ashton hasn't rocked the boat, hasn't sounded off, and has, seemingly, been a total pro throughout, as he was at Crewe. But, whatever happens now, how fit and settled is his state of mind, I bet its all over the place, especially if his agent and players in the England U21 squad have been talking to him.
