Rumour on Oink'Un board (take 2)

When Peter Grant was appointed, the board finally bothered to reply to an application from a manager they'd ignored during the selection process. Name of this manager? Roy Hodgson.

Two things. First - has anyone else heard this? And second, if true - does anyone still want to argue that getting the right manager is down to "luck"?
