There are two sides of the coin:
1) City have been spiralling down since 2004/5 and yet the Board, emboldened by the (stupidly) high volume of renewals, have failed to offer a sop to the fans for this failure. Even this year's, ahem, 'freeze' was not offered as a gesture, Munby bluntly stating that deflationary pressures forced their hand.
And the extent that the City board have rewarded failure is outrageous - see this little nugget User Posted Link
So those who do not trust the board with their 60 quid are right to ask for it back.
2) Of course if the board (and the manager they employ) do their jobs properly then the benefit of a large payroll is clear for all to see (Huckerby, Croft, Clingan).
So by asking to be rebated we are requiring Gunn & the board to overperform.
It is, if you like, Morton's Fork. And we are all impaled on it.
