I have and I think you're trying to say that it was worse than the spirit of the staircase

i.e. thinking on your way out of a witty or relevant comment and was more like thinking of it a week too late. Whereas the spirit of next week would mean that I have thought about it a week in advance i.e. before it has actually occurred meaing I am either clairvoyant or can time travel.
