"A chance" equalling 8 months in charge to me isn't a chance at all
That's where Gunn is in probably one of the most difficult positions in football now (and anyone else who took the job)

He'll try and implement his ideas now, and will have a plan, but probably a plan like most other managers, that revolves around assessing the team, gathering a list of targets, obtaining them, and then hoping they all stay fit
In the above list of targets, probably the one he works hardest on, or the longest will fall through. One of them will be good but will probably get injured. Some won't work out or will be rubbish
Depending on resources, plan a or the only plan will have to work straight away
