Was that a serious q?

As with many City/top nationals we've just deferred a good number of our 2009 intake, so inevitably that's going to have a knock on impact on numbers of places available, and we'll probably look for a couple less each year now. It's going to be the same story across the board - slightly fewer places and more grads chasing them.

But the show must go on, as they say, so it's always worth a punt. Weve probably closed applications for the vac scheme this year but we still interview (and offer TCs) to a few people who havent been through that process. Again that's going to be the case across the top firms. So congrats if you have a vac scheme lined up but dont lose heart if you havent got one, they're harder to get than TCs. (not a showstopper to not have one at all, first time I'd stepped into a law firm, bar interviews, was the first day of my TC...)

If you can work out my firm then I'll be happy to help out with words of wisdom on the whole process generally. I'm a lofty NQ / lowly NQ (depending on viewpoint!) so still remember enough about it all to give pointers.

Roll on Friday is also quite a good forum for getting a bit of an inside feel for the profession, though avoid, if you can, the training board as it's full of tools.
