FAO Jayson Blair and Ralf Scrampton

Just continuing our chat from below - yes, I do want Boothroyd. I'm realistic enough to think it's unlikely though: why would he take the job at a League 1 club with no money? If our circumstances are as bleak as it appears, Gannon, Robins or Tilson would all be realistic appointments, and ones I'd be quite happy with.

Sure, Boothroyd and Irvine were unproven when Watford and Preston appointed them. But a) Norwich are a bigger club than either, and had parachute payments and recent Prem experience when we bizarrely plumped for Grant; and b), at least they had coaching experience, unlike Gunn! No appointment is guaranteed to work: many go wrong for a whole variety of reasons, not least if the club is badly run in the first place. But it simply has to be a better bet appointing someone who's already done well somewhere else than taking a complete shot in the dark.

Lastly, on Roeder: was he appointed just to keep us up, or as a medium and longer-term choice? The latter, which his record advised against to an enormous degree. Meaning even though he kept us up, he was a crazy appointment for a club looking to progress over a period of years rather than months.
