Nope - I think they appointed Roeder because they thought he was a gentleman as well! I don't recall many Newcastle or West Ham fans thinking that, as well as being out of his depth, he was an arrogant you-know-what to boot. Who were the panel of football experts they consulted over Grant? Dave Stringer... anyone else? Not people who had a vested interest in either their mate Peter getting the job, or in Norwich continuing to struggle, I hope?

When we were promoted, Delia comically described NW as the "new Wenger": she didn't have the foggiest why he'd succeeded while others had failed. He succeeded because he was in the right place at the right time when Hamilton departed (something those lunatics blamed on the local press), was able to face the board down and demand real funds because they'd failed so badly, and Ipswich were doing so well, and because he had a good degree of practical common sense. That's all - and he only got the job because the Blarneymeister brought him here.

One success which later went wrong; four ridiculous appointments. I'd say that makes the one success an exception, wouldn't you? Meanwhile, they didn't have to borrow anywhere near as much for the securitisation as they did, and were miles out with their financial projections, as Creo has pointed out over and over again.
