I don't want Gunny to get the job. I'm a sucker for anyone who talks a good fight and shows deteremination, I was even taken in by Grant for a while. However, Gunn had almost half a season, and there was no improvement, at no point in those 19 games did I notice any resemblance of a plan, or a style of play, it all seemed off the cuff.
When Worthy took over a far weaker relegation threatened squad from hamilton he built some spirit and played longball percentage football, not what he wanted to do but all that such limited players could achieve. He managed survival and built from there.
I can't help feeling that Boothroyd, whom i don't like, would have somehow achieved survival, it wouldn't have been pretty but who would have cared.
As for a replacement: Robins seems a reasonable bet. I don't suppose the board will be in the mood for taking chances, but the very young guy at Bournemouth has done a remarkable job and could just be the new special one.
