Looking from the point of view of the vast majority of football fans it makes total sense. Thing is, the only real alternative to stop the utter degradation of the game is a complete or very strong boycott by the fans. And when your club has a 2000 strong waiting list for season tickets it would take a committed activist (or maybe a non-committed fan) to stop buying it when renewal time comes around.
