Like you I share the view that if we go down we may be able to watch us win (hurrah) and go to new grounds (hurrah) and maybe win the JPT (........) but I don;t think we'll bounce straight back, we don't have the squad, Southampton and Charlton own most of their players and so are likely to keep them next year, then you can add MK Dons/Leeds/Scunthorpe/Millwall who are good solid League 1 teams who know about the League.
We have a problem from top to bottom of being "nice". We employ nice managers who don't make any waves, we have a nice chairman and board members who get on with things quietly with minimal fuss or investment. We have nice players eg the Doc, Drury, Marshall, JC etc we have nice fans who go every week clap along and accept relegation. Lee came in and was widely criticised until he played a game for us and then the view was wow he's the player we've played against all these years a fighter someone who'll rough the opposition up we need more like this especially in the lower leagues.
Unfortunately I can see our time in League 1 being longer than many expect, possibly ending up like other former Prem clubs in Swindon and Oldham in mid-table mediocrity. Oh well I really hope we come straight back up or even stay up this season but I'm in a glass half empty mood!
