Ratings from last night

Marshall - 6 - Not to blame for any of the goals.
Otsemobor - 6 - At least he tried to go forward.
Bertrand - 5 - Did ok defensively except for the marking on the 1st goal, but his only decent cross came 3 mins into stoppage time.
Doherty - 6 - Did mostly good. A couple of unnecessary tackles.
Shackell - 6 - Impressed me until he missed the marking on the 2nd goal. The first one was Bertrands.
Carney - 4 - First touch like McKenzie on a bad day. Never looked like creating anything. Waste of space.
Gow - 4 - See Carney.
Russell - 6 - Worked hard. He's just not good enough.
Clingan - 7 - Looked comfortable on the ball. Decent set pieces. Bit too many passes sideways and backwards, though, but lack of forward movement from the others can also be a reason for this.
Lee - 6 - Too lightweight against the Reading defenders. Worked his socks off, but it never resulted in anything.
McDonald - 7 in 1st half - 5 in 2nd. Showed both that he's got what it takes at this level, and that he has a few things to learn to be really successful. Excellent run when he was brought down. Terrible decision not to play Lee when they were two-on-two.

Too many hoofs down the middle. Made it easy for the big Reading defenders. Never looked like scoring a goal in the 2nd half. But it is hard to win matches against a good opposition when you don't have wide players capable of creating chances.

Subs never looked like making a difference either.
