Supporters clapping the players off...

No doubt i'm gonna get flamed for this but it needs to be said. I couldnt attend tonights game unfortunately so had to watch on sky. Firstly I have to say well done to every supporter who was there, the noise was fantastic and the support the team got was brilliant however come the end of the game after an utterly gutless performance in which many players did there best statue impressions in the 2nd half why did sections of the crowd clap the players off the pitch at the final whistle? I'm not having ago I am just generally interested in the psychology behind it. You see that and you stand there clapping? And before anyone says anything I don't think the players should have been booed off or pelted with rotten eggs, I am just completely baffled by it. I'm not one to believe the crap that floats round the Pink un about Norwich fans deserving our position because we continue to renew season tickets on masse year after year despite the crap we are being served up but tonight has made me think again. I just don't believe such incompetence would be celebrated at any other club in the league. In any case feel free to flame and tell me what a t**t I am etc etc...
