I notice none of these stories really talk about the pigs - what about their suffering? Maybe we should be eating carrots, not meat.
The pigs would also be happier.

That presuposes pigs are intelligent enough to understand that they are being fed to be slaughtered later and eaten by humans.
I don't think they are that smart.
