don't see what the fans have to do with it

didn't notice the scum fans doing much about their failure in the past. Other than not turning up.

But are you suggesting the fans should only go when the team are winning, and should not show up whenever things are going badly?

Guess that would make the club more like any other business, like a restaurant or a department store. If you don't like the product you don't buy it.

Not sure that's really the way most people want fotball to go though.
