Do the board actually NEED us to go down?

Take the board's perspective;

1. A chance to remove high wage earners/loanees, get transfer fees for Croft, Clingan and Marshall then use the cash to reduce our debt burden.
2. We've already got 18,000 season ticket holders so there is guaranteed income set against a much lower wage bill.
3. A new manager finding his feet, who is a club legend, and will be difficult for fans to turn against.
4. They got the fallback option of Gunn's football contacts to unearth cheaper non league 'gems', Cody Mac being the precedent.
5. We've got Martin and Spillane coming back from Luton to replace loanees.
6. The long term value of the club's assets (ground/facilities) remains unaffected.
7. Being in League One reduces the chance of a new investor.
8. We'll be on TV a lot more if we are successful in League One and there is the Decorator's Cup for additional income.

With a financial hat on we'll probably be better off for a season in League One.

However if you've bought a season ticket for a diet of Hartlepool, Brentford, Stockport, Orient, Yeovil, Swindon etc, then it's a disaster.
