Space shuttles are a bit rubbish really. 70s technology.

All to do with the mentalist obsession on manned space exploration - if they were serious about science, rather than just headlines (and therefore justifying a massive budget to ignorant voters) they'd stop fannying around with manned space stations (etc) and spend all the money on unmanned probes and whatnot and actually find some stuff out. Learn. Evolve.
